EVALUATING THE THERAPEUTIC EFFICACY OF SHWASHAR MAHAKASHAYA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF TAMAK SHWAS
Abstract
India's fast urbanization, growth, and development have raised pollution levels, which has led to an increase in respiratory illnesses. One of the long-term respiratory conditions is bronchial asthma. Tamaka Shwasa is one of the five forms of Shwasa Roga that Acharya Charaka has described. The etiopathogenesis, clinical characteristics, and management of Tamaka Shwasa have all been thoroughly described by Charaka. One of the best medication compositions described by Acharya Charaka is Shwasahara Mahakashaya. There are 10 Dravyas in all, and the majority of them exhibit Vata-Kaphaghna qualities. The pathophysiology of Tamaka Shwasa is caused by vitiated Vata-Kpha Dosha. Studies on this Dravya's pharmacological effects have revealed anti-inflammatory, anti-histaminic, and anti-asthmatic qualities.
