Abstract

This Zenodo record provides open-access project deliverable reports from RIGOR-MED (G-06-2023), a FORWARDS-funded initiative focused on improving the monitoring of forest disturbances in Mediterranean ecosystems through the integration of Earth Observation time series, multi-source harmonisation, and statistically robust validation. The reports document: (i) the assessment of key external forest disturbance products (Global Forest Change—GFC, European Forest Disturbance Atlas—EFDA, and Spain’s Alert and Annual Changes System—AACS); (ii) the production of internal annual disturbance layers from Landsat and Sentinel-2 time series; (iii) harmonisation approaches to align thematic classes and reconcile discrepancies across products; and (iv) the design and use of an independent reference benchmark based on systematic photointerpretation to support accuracy assessment. This research was supported by the project RIGOR-MED (G-06-2023), funded by the European Union through FORWARDS (Horizon Europe Project No. 101084481) grants to third parties managed by European Forest Institute.”.
