Towards Net Zero: Carbon Emission Management in Indian Industries with a Focus on Kerala
Abstract
The policy brief analyses the current state of net-zero adoption across Indian industries, with a focused assessment of corporate climate action in Kerala. While over half of India’s leading companies have announced net-zero targets, the study finds that progress remains uneven, particularly due to gaps in science-based target adoption, Scope 3 emissions reporting, and institutional capacity. Drawing on national datasets and corporate surveys, the brief outlines practical pathways for strengthening carbon emission management, including renewable energy integration, internal carbon pricing, CSR alignment, and market-based mechanisms, to support a structured transition toward net zero.
