Abstract

JSAP v1.1: HOLD-Preserving Incubation Complete Reproducible Implementation and Experimental Data This repository contains the complete reproducible implementation of experiments reported in: Takagi, T. (2026). "HOLD-Preserving Incubation: Critical Threshold Behavior in Non-Assertive AI Systems." Nature Machine Intelligence (submitted). Overview This work introduces JSAP v1.1 (Joint Semantic Anchoring Protocol), a formal specification for AI systems that generate semantically aligned candidates while maintaining epistemic humility (confidence ≤0.40) under insufficient grounding. We demonstrate that insight emergence during HOLD (High-level Observation with Limited Determination) exhibits critical threshold behavior—a sharp, step-like transition characteristic of phase transitions in physical systems. Key Findings Main Experiment (κ=0.40) 9 insights detected at 18% rate over 50 time steps 100% temporal clustering in Phase 1 (t
