Forest roads as multifunctional ecosystems: biodiversity, ecosystem services and disservices
Abstract
In this study, we will identify ecosystem properties and environmental factors that regulate ecosystem processes along the roads and clarify the role of forest roads in three main aspects. Firstly, habitats for natural vegetation. Secondly, habitats for invertebrate species providing ecosystem services and disservices. Thirdly, recreational use of roads and aesthetic quality of road landscapes.
