Monte Sierpe
Abstract
Abstract For over a century, the 5,200 pits of Monte Sierpe in the Pisco Valley have been interpreted through the lens of ritual or symbolic activity. This paper presents a technological re-evaluation of the site as a large-scale industrial processing plant. By analyzing the hydraulic gradients, the "comb-like" distribution system, and the logistics link to the Tambo Colorado hub, we demonstrate that the site functioned as a gravity-fed cascade reactor for mass food preservation (fermentation and curing) and raw material processing.
