Abstract
Global Food Security Impacts of Ammonia Market Shocks Jillian Sturtevant1, Page Kyle2*, Xin Zhang1, Paul Wolfram2, Hassan Niazi2 1 Appalachian Laboratory, University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES); 2 Joint Global Change Research Institute, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (JGCRI-PNNL) * corresponding author: pkyle@pnnl.gov Description This repository contains data, model configuration, and analysis scripts supporting the study “Global Food Security Impacts of Ammonia Market Shocks.” Using GCAM, the analysis quantifies the effects of global ammonia supply and demand shocks, driven in part by ammonia use in low-carbon shipping, on fertilizer prices, food prices, and food demand through the mid-21st century. The archive includes GCAM extracted model outputs, queries, R scripts for analysis and figure generation, and pre-processed GCAM output files to enable reproducibility without rerunning the full model. Related publication: Journal reference forthcoming. Release notes: Initial public release supporting manuscript submission Finalized GCAM-based analysis of global ammonia market shocks and food security Consolidated data, model pointers, model outputs and analysis, reproducible R workflows, figure creation, regional food price elasticities analysis Documentation and READMEs for reproducibility Full Changelog: https://github.com/JGCRI/sturtevant_food_ammonia/commits/v0-submissionGithub: https://github.com/JGCRI/sturtevant_food_ammonia
