Motion Demonstration of an Omnidirectional Soft Sleeve Actuator
Abstract
This video demonstrates the motion capabilities of an omnidirectional soft sleeve actuator (OSSA) with four pneumatic chambers. The actuator produces axial extension when all four chambers are simultaneously pressurized and axial contraction when all four chambers are simultaneously subjected to negative pressure (vacuum). Directional bending is achieved by selectively pressurizing a single chamber, enabling bending in four distinct directions. The video also shows multi-directional bending generated by sequentially pressurizing two chambers while the remaining chambers remain unpressurized.
