Scientific Discipline and the Boundary of Science (IM-C002, v0.3)
Abstract
This document is part of the Informational Mechanics (IM) framework and is published as a foundational paper in the IM v0.3 corpus. It defines a scientific-discipline gate for IM: what qualifies as scientific content, what does not, and how the boundary is enforced under operator-defined observability constraints. The paper formalizes a non-polemic criterion-set for excluding non-scientific narratives (including popular speculative “explanations”) not by taste or authority, but by admissibility: whether claims can be made comparable, falsifiable, and regime-consistent under disturbance and limited access to ground truth. The document introduces no new axioms beyond the canonical IM axioms block. Its purpose is to provide a reproducible boundary condition for IM writing, review, and downstream theory development.
