5G-Enabled Industrial Mobile Robotics: Integration, Coordination, and Performance
Abstract
Industrial autonomous mobile robotic systems (I-AMRS) integrate mobile platforms with manipulators for advanced, on-the-move interactions within factory environments. This paper introduced the I-AMRS concept and discusses key aspects related to data traffic requirements, and IT/OT integration strategies considering 5G as the core communication enabler. The paper also proposed a real-time coordination method allowing for synchronized interaction between static and mobile robotic elements. Experimental validation was done over a private 5G network in industrial operational conditions, demonstrating reliable closed control-loop performance.
