Abstract

This document presents an axiomatic derivation of the electromagnetic field ($A_\mu$) and the fine-structure constant ($\alpha$) based on the Unified Chronofractal Field (UCF) framework ($k=0$). The Theoretical Problem In the Standard Model, local gauge invariance is introduced as a mathematical requirement to preserve the Lagrangian under local phase transformations: $$\psi(x) \to e^{i\theta(x)}\psi(x)$$ This necessitates the introduction of the gauge field to cancel non-invariant derivative terms. While mathematically consistent, this mechanism lacks a foundational physical ontology. The Geometric Solution (Lattice-14) The UCF framework posits that the vacuum is a discrete, 14-mode Bravais Lattice (Physical Hardware). In this topology: Phase ($\theta$): Represents the geometric orientation angle of a lattice node. Local Transformation: Represents a physical rotation (torsion) relative to neighboring nodes. Gauge Field ($A_\mu$): Identified as the Elastic Restoration Force of the lattice reacting to minimize topological shear stress. Derivation of $\alpha^{-1}$ (Vacuum Stiffness) We define the inverse fine-structure constant not as an arbitrary coupling strength, but as the Inverse Stiffness of the vacuum manifold. The value is derived ab initio by summing the geometric invariants of the lattice: Geometric Core ($108^\circ$): Rigid pentagonal limit. Fluid Viscosity ($18/\nu$): Hydrodynamic degrees of freedom. Fractal Damping ($-\nu^5$): Geometric energy loss. Local Metric Drift ($\Delta$): Gravitational coupling (Solar System). Result: $$\alpha^{-1}_{UCF} = 108 + \frac{18}{\nu} - \nu^5 + \Delta \approx \mathbf{137.035971}$$ This theoretical vacuum value deviates from the terrestrial CODATA measurement ($\approx 137.035999$) by $0.2$ ppm, a discrepancy identified as Gravitational Vacuum Hysteresis, currently the subject of the proposed Project Chronos (L2 Metrology Mission). Ontological Note: Unlike Lattice Gauge Theory (LGT), which treats the lattice as a computational artifact ($a \to 0$), this framework identifies the lattice as the fundamental, non-renormalizable hardware of spacetime (Supersolid State).
