The University Professor Between Societal Perception and Academic Reality: An Objective Reading of Academic Work
Abstract
This analytical article presents a comprehensive and evidence-based examination of the academic, research, supervisory, administrative, and financial responsibilities borne by university professors in Iraq. Drawing on national legislation, international higher education frameworks, and global research policy indicators, the article argues that university service allowances are not discretionary benefits, but legally grounded and professionally justified entitlements. The work aims to correct prevalent societal misconceptions regarding the academic workload and to provide a documented reference for policymakers, academics, and the public.
