Decoherence is Necessary for Integrated Information: Evidence from Quantum Reservoir Computing
Abstract
This repository contains the code and data supporting the discovery that decoherence (noise) is necessary for integrated information (Φ > 0) in quantum systems. We demonstrate using rigorous Lindblad master equation dynamics that quantum systems in pure states have Φ = 0, while systems coupled to a thermal bath exhibit Φ > 0 with an optimal noise level exhibiting stochastic resonance behavior.
