Abstract

Liquisolid Technology is an emerging, industry-friendly formulation approach particularly suitable for drugs belonging to the Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS) Class II and IV, which are characterized by poor aqueous solubility and consequently low oral bioavailability. This technique offers several advantages, including cost-effective manufacturing, simplified processing steps, and significantly enhanced drug dissolution rates. A key benefit lies in the improved bioavailability of the drug, primarily due to the increased surface area available for absorption in its liquefied form. In the following discussion, we will explore the various excipients employed as carrier and coating materials in Liquisolid formulations, focusing on their feasibility and compatibility within the pharmaceutical industry.
