Abstract

This visual curation is born from the crucible of personal struggle and Therapeutic Art Narratives. The intricate black-and-white patterns and geometries chart a journey through the landscapes of severe depression, anxiety, and cPTSD. Each piece, created during self-administered art therapy sessions, stands as a testament to the artist's quest for stillness and sanctuary amidst internal chaos. The technique, a meditative practice of repetitive, structured line work reminiscent of Zentangle and mandala art, transforms moments of intense vulnerability into stunning visual tapestries. CathARTic Imprints is an intimate and powerful exploration of how the act of creation can forge a path toward healing. Emerging from her own lived experience, channeling her journey of trauma recovery into a powerful artistic statement, Rao's work, both on and off the page, is dedicated to challenging established narratives and exploring the transformative potential of self-reclamation. Her art serves as a bridge between her scholarly insights and her profound understanding of the human condition, celebrating the resilient spirit's capacity to find and create meaning in the face of adversity.
