Abstract

This paper presents an independent competitive positioning analysis of 2maal2 (Autobudgets BV), a Belgian independent used-car dealership operating in the quality niche of the West Flemish second-hand vehicle market. The analysis builds on a prior foundationa competitive position analysis of the same firm and extends it by applying three higher-level strategic frameworks: the competitive life cycle S-curve, stakeholder value mapping, and internationalization theory. The central argument is that 2maal2's decision to remain positioned on the declining internal combustion engine curve rather than pivot toward electric vehicles reflects a deliberate and internally consistent harvesting strategy, shaped by the firm's exit horizon, its accumulated regional brand equity, and the paradoxical margin advantages that supply scarcity creates for firms positioned as quality specialists. Particular attention is given to the interaction between Harrigan and Porter's end-game strategy logic, Johanson and Vahlne's Uppsala internationalization model, and Ghemawat's CAGE framework in explaining why the firm's geographic self-limitation is strategically rational rather than a failure of ambition. The analysis concludes that the strategy is coherent and defensible within its stated time frame, but that it carries underexamined risks related to stakeholder dependency, succession planning, and the pace of demand-side EV adoption.
