Abstract

The Four-Layer Architecture v2.0 is an integrated research and engineering package that combines: v1.0 (Frozen Reference) — a runtime safety and governance architecture for adaptive systems v2.2 (Structural Attractor Framework) — a discovery engine for identifying stable structural patterns in data Golden Spike (Structural Equivalence Tools) — a mathematical translation layer between coordinate representations The package demonstrates how discovery and safety can coexist without violating separation of concerns. v1.0 — Frozen Runtime Safety Architecture The original Four-Layer Architecture v1.0 remains unchanged and frozen. It implements a control-theory-inspired runtime governance pattern for adaptive systems that cannot be fully verified at compile time. The architecture enforces a strict separation of concerns across four layers: Invariant Layer — defines axiomatic safety constraints and has exclusive authority to reset the system to a safe state Target Layer — stores a non-binding operational set-point Estimator Layer — provides pure measurements of deviation Control Layer — acts as a binary accept/reject filter without modifying state This frozen reference includes: a formal specification a canonical Python implementation a comprehensive architectural test suite enforcing contract guarantees v1.0 makes no physics-based claims and is intended as a software engineering pattern for runtime governance. v2.2 — Structural Attractor Framework (Discovery Engine) The Structural Attractor Framework v2.2 extends the package with a discovery engine designed to identify stable structural regions (“attractors”) in data streams. Key properties: deterministic, contract-driven analysis domain-specific tolerances (e.g. turbulence, markets, quantum signals) explicit confidence and phase classification no authority to modify system state The discovery engine is advisory by design and cannot override safety constraints. Golden Spike — Structural Equivalence Tools The Golden Spike component provides pure mathematical utilities that demonstrate structural equivalence between different coordinate systems (e.g. angular vs. ratio-based representations). These tools: perform coordinate transformations verify consistency between formalisms do not assert empirical truth or physical laws They are included as implementation and reasoning aids, not as claims about reality. Integration: Discovery Without Authority This release includes examples and visualizations showing how: v2.2 can discover candidate attractors v1.0 can enforce safety independently no implicit authority transfer occurs Discovery informs safety targets only through explicit, auditable mechanisms. Scope and Epistemic Status This package: demonstrates engineering contracts and mathematical consistency does not claim discovery of universal constants does not assert physical laws does not provide empirical validation It is intended as a research artifact and engineering toolkit, suitable for simulations, optimization loops, exploratory algorithms, and studies of runtime governance.
