Abstract

This dataset contains methane total column concentrations retrieved during a pipeline blowdown maintenance event, from the ABI instruments on NOAA GOES geostationary satellites. Actual location of the experiment cannot be shared due to NOAA's restrictions. File name convention:LonXXX_LatYYY_[Satellite]_[Mode]_[yyyyjjjhhmmss].nc Satellite: the GOES satellites include GOES-16/18/19Mode: FullDisk mode has 10 min scan frequency, CONUS mode scans every 5 min, Meso mode scans every 30 sec, and GOES-19 has a special 7-sec test mode. yyyy: 4 digits for yearjjj: 3 digits for day of the year (DOY)hhmmss: 6 digits for hour, minute, and second Variables in each netCDF file:CH4_enhance : CH4 enhancements from reference in [mol/m2]CH4_plume_mask : Binary plume mask (1=plume, 0=non-plume)CH4_reference : CH4 reference used in calculating CH4_enhance [mol/m2]CH4_target : CH4 retrieval for the target scene [mol/m2]Cloud_mask : Binary cloud mask (1=cloud, 0=clear), not available for G-19dR_reference : Band ratio between 1.6/2.3 um bands for the referencedR_target : Band ratio between 1.6/2.3 um bands for the target scenelat : latitude grid, central location obscuredlon : longitude grid, central location obscured RGB : True color image
