India as a Fast-Developing Economy in Asia: Future Prospects and the Question of External Credit.
Abstract
India has emerged as one of the fastest-growing major economies in Asia and the world. With a large domestic market, a young demographic profile, an expanding industrial base, and rapid digital transformation, India is increasingly being viewed as a future global economic giant. Over the last three decades, economic liberalization, structural reforms, and integration with the global economy have significantly altered India’s growth trajectory. However, alongside this growth narrative, questions are often raised about India’s dependence on external credit and loans from international institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, and other multilateral agencies.
