Expectation Dynamics, One-Hit Phenomena, and Strategic Exit
Abstract
We develop a phenomenological dynamical theory explaining the emergence of one-hit wonders, rational exit timing, and expectation control as optimal strategies in highly competitive social systems. By modeling social success as a non-equilibrium process governed by rising expectations imposed on individuals, we show that temporary success, structural decline, and strategic withdrawal naturally arise from the same mathematical framework. The theory applies to music, entertainment, academia, and other winner-take-all domains.
