Abstract
Polyommatus amandus (Schneider,1792) is a rare Lycaenid species in Hungary and Carpathian Carpathian–Pannonian Basin, living in local populations. Starting from the 19th century, the author collected and reviewed observations and information on the geographical distribution and bionomics of the species. Thisis the first study in Hungary to present the literature of a protected species in chronological order. Thestudy includes several photos that are important for identification, along with an illustration of male genitalia. He critically analyzes previously depicted distribution maps of the Carpathian Carpathian–Pannonian regionand presents a new geographical distribution pattern. He also summarized and annotated the Central European literature on the species.
