EFFECTIVE USAGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE SCIENTIFIC TRANSLATION PROCESS
Abstract
As the demand for scientific communication between languages grows, traditional methods of translating science will face more and more pressure. This is because translating science requires both language skills and knowledge of the scientific field, and thus poses a unique challenge. With the introduction of AI into scientific translation, there has been a quantum leap in the speed and accuracy of translations thanks to the introduction of digital (neural machine translation) and text-based (natural language processing) translation systems. The purpose of this paper is to examine the integration and effectiveness of AI in the scientific translation process. This review includes a thorough literature review and an analysis (comparative) of various AI-based translation systems to assess their various strengths and weaknesses, as well as different post-editing methods by human translators. The conclusion of this study is that AI can improve the effectiveness of scientific translation processes, but that human supervision should always be in place to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the final output when dealing with highly technical fields.
