The bleak wind and chilly rain beat against my cheeks
Abstract
This document critically examines the core dilemmas of modern scientific development. It reveals multiple forms of alienation under the banner of "pure science"—first, science has become a dogma, trapping reason: some researchers treat current physical laws as the "ceiling of truth," suppressing imagination that transcends the present and ignoring science’s nature of starting from speculation and growing through exploration, making them prisoners of science. Second, education narrows cognition: one-dimensional training in top academic institutions produces "high-IQ tools" who only understand logical calculations but lack humanistic awareness, splitting science from humanity. It also points out that science is reduced to a tool, with some researchers prioritizing technical advancement over human well-being, and calls for redefining science to reconnect it with practical needs, humanistic values and real-world problem-solving.
