ENHANCING THE CURRENT LAND CADASTRE SYSTEM WITH MODERN TECHNOLOGIES
Abstract
Land cadastre systems constitute a fundamental component of land administration by ensuring legal security of land tenure, supporting land markets, and facilitating sustainable land management. However, many existing cadastre systems face persistent challenges related to data inaccuracy, inefficient updating mechanisms, limited transparency, and weak integration of spatial and legal information. Recent advances in modern technologies, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and blockchain, offer significant potential to address these limitations. This study aims to evaluate the role of modern technologies in enhancing the functionality of current land cadastre systems and to propose an integrated conceptual framework for cadastral modernization. A mixed-methods research approach is adopted, combining qualitative analysis of international best practices with quantitative insights from land administration professionals. The findings demonstrate that the integrated application of GIS, remote sensing, and blockchain can significantly improve cadastral data accuracy, operational efficiency, and transaction security. The proposed framework contributes to the ongoing discourse on digital land governance and provides practical guidance for policymakers and cadastral institutions.
