The Architecture of Reality: The Hum Field Framework (Version 4) — A Unified Ontology of Substrate, Universe, Geometry, Physics, and Mind
Abstract
This release presents Version 4 of the Hum Field Framework, a unified ontology that describes reality as a hierarchy of predictive structures emerging from a shaped, pre-geometric substrate. The framework proposes that substrate-level prediction, mismatch, and collapse form a generative loop that gives rise to geometry, universe dynamics, physical law, cognition, and experience. The Version 4 report introduces a refined conceptual architecture that distinguishes the substrate from proto-geometry, emergent spacetime, universe formation, and mind-level predictive organisation. It formalises the predictive fields (state, memory, expectation, imbalance, and knowing), develops a hybrid collapse formalism combining continuous evolution with discrete structural commitments, and derives an emergent metric from collapse propagation. Minds are treated as local attractors of predictive organisation, arising from the same generative principles that shape universes. This Zenodo record also includes two companion codebases that operationalise the theory at different scales. The UniverseHumFieldV4.3 simulator implements universe-scale predictive dynamics, curvature-driven collapse, emergent geometry, and proto-object formation. The HumFieldV7.1 simulator implements mind-scale predictive agents with memory, expectation, attention, self-modelling, and behaviour shaped by collapse-driven meaning. Together, the report and code form a coherent research suite demonstrating how prediction, collapse, and knowing can generate structure across scales—from substrate to universe to mind. Mathematical Addendum (Version 5):This supplementary document provides refined mathematical formalism for the Hum Field Framework, including explicit definitions of the knowing field, collapse threshold, hybrid dynamics, and emergent metric structure. It is intended as a technical companion to The Architecture of Reality (Version 4) and does not modify the findings of the main report.
