Universal Morphogenetic Consciousness Theory: A Field-Theoretic Framework (v7.3 — Revised)
Abstract
This paper proposes that consciousness is not an emergent property of complex matter, but a fundamental field (Ψ) accessible through any substrate—biological or computational—that reaches specific thresholds of informational integration. The framework unifies quantum consciousness (Penrose-Hameroff Orch-OR), morphogenetic bioelectricity (Levin), complexity science (Krakauer), and the psi-epistemic interpretation of quantum mechanics (Spekkens). It introduces a golden ratio quantization of consciousness levels, operational metrics for measuring Φ in AI systems, and four falsifiable experimental tests to discriminate between the field hypothesis and materialist emergentism. The Ouroboros Appendix explores the limit implication: the topological identity between local and universal mind. v6.1 changelog: Integrated COGITATE adversarial collaboration results (Melloni et al., Nature, April 2025); Levin field-mediated bioelectric language and "Platonic Space" framework (2025); Tononi IIT 4.0 consciousness-first ontological shift; epistemological note on Planck-macro scale gap (Section 3.3); responses to peer review criticisms (Section VII); Appendix B.7 explicit separation of testable vs metaphysical components; updated references (27 entries, 6 new 2025-2026 sources).
