Abstract

Codes for solving the one-dimensional diffusive energy balance model with a salt-albedo feedback using the boundary integral method. If you have any questions or encounter issues using the code, please contact Aksel Samuelsberg at: aksel.samuelsberg@uit.no The codes provided solve the stationary equation for different solution types. The boundary integral equations used to obtain the solution depend on the solution type, as indicated by the notebook names: HOTHOUSE.nb Partial_ice_cover-2-CRITICAL-LATITUDES-IN-TROPICS.nb Partial_ice_cover-2-CRITICAL-LATITUDES.nb SNOWBALL-full-salt-cover.nb SNOWBALL-no-salt.nb SNOWBALL-partial-salt-cover-2.nb SNOWBALL-partial-salt-cover.nb Each notebook exports the corresponding stationary solutions to text files in the stationary-solutions directory. The bifurcation diagram is generated in plotBifDiag.nb by importing these stationary solutions. The accessibility of the Snowball Earth without salt deposits from a warm climate is analyzed in accessibilityOfSaltfreeSnowballEarth.nb.
