Abstract

The scripts compute displacement, strain, and stress fields generated by spherical and spherical-shell thermo-poro-elastic (TPE) inclusions embedded in a homogeneous elastic half-space. The scripts TPE_SOLUTIONS_SPHERE.m and TPE_SOLUTIONS_SHELL.m implement the complete analytical solutions for all components of the mechanical fields associated with, respectively, a solid spherical TPE source and a spherical TPE shell. The scripts Compute_solutions_SPHERE.m and Compute_solutions_SHELL.m are used to evaluate and visualize these solutions at a fixed depth, plotting the field components as functions of the radial distance in the plane y = 0. Finally, the script Corrections_SHELL.m computes the leading-order surface correction terms for the displacement fields generated by the spherical TPE shell. These corrections are required when the ratio a/z0 is smaller than 0.48.
