Corrected Theoretical Research: Astronomical Verification of the Nakhla Expedition Date Considering \Delta T (Historical Change in Day Length)
Abstract
This research applies \Delta T-corrected astronomical calculations to verify the precise date of the Nakhla Expedition (2 AH). The study incorporates temporal adjustments based on Earth's rotational deceleration—approximately 1.7 \text{ ms/century}—which accounts for a cumulative difference of about 11,000 seconds (\approx 3 hours) since the 7th century. The core findings suggest that Jumada al-Thani was likely a 29-day month, causing the expedition to unknowingly enter the sacred month of Rajab. While these astronomical corrections reduce mathematical certainty by 3-5%, they provide a more robust and precise chronological reconstruction that aligns with and supports traditional Islamic historical narratives
