Underwater benthic photoquadrat images from Rocas Atoll used to compare manual and automated annotations
Abstract
This dataset contains underwater photoquadrat images collected as part of a long-term benthic monitoring program (PELD-Iloc) at Rocas Atoll, Brazil. The images were used to evaluate the performance of manual (human) and automated (machine learning–based) benthic annotations. The dataset is organized into two subsets: a training set, used to train the automated annotation system, and an evaluation set, used exclusively to assess annotator performance, ensuring independence between training and validation data
