Threshold Theory of Consciousness: A Phase Transition Model
Abstract
This record presents a process-based theory of consciousness as a phase transition governed by a critical flow threshold (Φ* = 0.200). Consciousness emerges abruptly above the threshold and ceases entirely below it. An accompanying appendix (“The Renewal Principle”) completes the model by describing death and renewal as cessation and reconfiguration of modulation rather than persistence of identity.
