Abstract
π AuraGCP Converter β v1.1 AuraGCP Converter is a desktop utility designed to streamline the preparation of Ground Control Point (GCP) and Wall Station data for point cloud processing and geo-referencing workflows specifically for imperial system of measurement users of Emesent Aura point cloud processing Software. The application automates the cleaning, filtering, unit conversion, and formatting of survey control/target datasets, producing Aura-ready GCP inputs that accurately reference point cloud outputs to the local coordinate systems. β¨ Key Features Multi-format input support Import GCP or control data from .csv, .txt, or .xlsx files via drag-and-drop or file browser. Dual workflow support Shot-In Targets from Instrument Setup Filters targets by naming code (e.g., GCP) Preconfigured support for certain GCP target types Custom target diameter and ID support Wall Station Targets (No Instrument Setup) Filters by user-defined station names Automatically detects ID and X/Y/Z coordinate columns Supports Leica GZT21 (4.5") and custom wall targets Unit conversion US survey feet β meters Applies conversion consistently across coordinates and target radius Automatic target radius calculation Computes and appends the correct radius required for Aura GCP processing based on selected target specifications Robust data handling Header detection for mixed-format survey exports Graceful handling of extra columns and malformed rows Heuristic-based detection of coordinate columns when schema is unknown Aura-ready output Generates standardized GCP_ .csv files Output is immediately usable for Aura point cloud processing & geo-referencing workflows Operational usability Live processing log Progress tracking Reset functionality to prevent carry-over errors Built-in Help and About documentation π― Intended Use AuraGCP Converter is intended for: Mine surveyors Geospatial and LiDAR processing teams Engineers performing point cloud geo-referencing using Emesent's Aura or any Metric centered point cloud processing software The tool significantly reduces manual spreadsheet manipulation, minimizes unit and formatting errors, and improves repeatability and reliability in LiDAR post-processing workflows. π Technical Notes Built with Python, PyQt5, pandas, and NumPy Desktop application suitable for operational survey environments Designed to integrate seamlessly into existing Aura-based workflows π Version v1.1 β Improved robustness, enhanced Wall Station handling, UI refinements, and expanded error handling.
