Geometric Ontology of Consciousness: Synthesis of the Fundamental Network Model and Torsion-Spinor Bio-Cosmic Coupling
Abstract
A synthetic theory is proposed to address the "hard problem" of consciousness by unifying two contemporary geometric approaches: the Ontology of the Fundamental Network (OFN) and the torsion-spinor model of bio-cosmic coupling (Northey, 2025). In this framework, fundamental reality is identified with a static, four-dimensional manifold—the Fundamental Network—a structured bundle of spinors from which all dynamic geometry emerges. Consciousness is interpreted as a stable soliton of the activation field Ψ, maintained by a biological system. The connectivity parameter σ, introduced within the OFN, is interpreted as a quantitative measure of the phase coherence of the cosmic quaternionic spinor field τ(x) from Northey's model. The torsion field functions as an algebraic, non-propagating mediator, facilitating instantaneous updates of the geometric phase in response to cosmic events (solar flares, geomagnetic disturbances). This synthesis provides a unified explanation for anomalous phenomena—the Shnoll effect and instantaneous neurophysiological responses to solar activity—as manifestations of a single underlying geometric mechanism. The theory yields a number of falsifiable predictions spanning neuroscience, physics, and cosmobiology. It proposes a new paradigm in which consciousness is not an epiphenomenon of complexity but a fundamental aspect of spacetime geometry, resonating through organized matter.
