Higgs-Electromagnetic Coupling Generates a⁻⁴ Radiation Pressure Resolving Hubble Tension
Abstract
The Hubble constant (H₀) exhibits a persistent 5σ tension between measurements from the cosmic microwave background (CMB) and local distance ladder methods. We propose that a non-minimal coupling between the Higgs field and electromagnetic field tensor generates an additional stress-energy component that resolves this discrepancy. The coupling constant ξ = φ/24 ≈ 0.0674 is derived from modular vacuum stability in D=24 transverse dimensions, where φ is the golden ratio. This interaction produces an isotropic radiation-like pressure (ρ_ξ ∝ a⁻⁴) that modifies the expansion history, yielding H₀ = 67.40 km s⁻¹ Mpc⁻¹ and matter density Ω_m = 0.315 in precise agreement with Planck measurements. We derive testable predictions for CMB polarization signatures observable by the Simons Observatory in 2026. The framework offers a parsimonious, first-principles resolution to the Hubble Tension without requiring new dark sector physics or modifications to general relativity.
