Salve Regina al Cristo de los Favores en Granada
Abstract
In 1640, a group of neighbours from the Realejo quarter, parishioners of the church of San Cecilio, set up a stone cross in the Realejo Alto square with the image of the Cristo of the Favours, which was venerated throughout the year, the main function being held on the feast of the Invention of the Cross (3rd May). In 1682, the cross, the bronze fence that surrounded it and the four lanterns that illuminated it, located at the corners, were moved to the nearby Campo del Príncipe, where these neighbours, organised as a confraternity, continued to worship this image.
