Part I: The Foundations (Prehistory) of Morocco
Abstract
This paper synthesizes current research on the prehistoric foundations of Morocco. It examines key archaeological discoveries, from the 300,000-year-old Homo sapiens fossils at Jebel Irhoud to the sequential Aterian, Ibero-Maurusian, and Neolithic cultures. The analysis highlights how early inhabitants adapted to major climatic shifts, transitioning from savanna hunter-gatherers to herders and farmers. The conclusion positions Morocco as a central region in understanding early human development in North Africa.
