Abstract

This paper shows that if a quantity identified as charge is to preserve epistemic standing under admissible redescription, then it must function as an admissibility invariant rather than as a contingent representational parameter. When charge assignments vary across admissible contexts, attempts to reconcile those variations through redescription introduce boundary inconsistencies that undermine standing. Retaining standing therefore requires that charge remain fixed across admissible transitions, independent of the representational form in which it is expressed. The result is conditional and eliminative. It does not specify the origin of charge, nor does it propose a mechanism for its conservation or transmission. Instead, it excludes any treatment of charge that permits admissible-context–dependent reassignment while claiming standing preservation. Charge is thereby constrained to operate as an admissibility-invariant descriptor whenever standing is retained.
