Abstract

Current feedback control systems in thermonuclear fusion devices suffer from inherent latency limitations (~1 ms), making them vulnerable to rapid Vertical Displacement Events (VDEs) and Edge Localized Modes (ELMs). This paper proposes CATECHON, an architecture utilizing FPGA-based "Hard Reflex" logic with a loop latency of ~10-20 ns. By exceeding the instability growth rate by orders of magnitude (10^3 - 10^5), we induce a Cybernetic Zeno Effect. Simulation results show that while uncontrolled instabilities reach amplitudes >10^6 within 20 μs, the CATECHON system maintains the amplitude
