The Invention That Changed The Way We View "Display"
Abstract
This research paper explores the scientific and technological significance of the invention of the blue Light Emitting Diode (LED) and its impact on modern electronics and display technology. It provides an accessible yet technical overview of LED fundamentals, semiconductor principles, and the evolution of display systems. The paper covers topics including the working mechanism of LEDs, p-type and n-type semiconductor behavior, structural complexity of blue LEDs based on gallium nitride materials, and comparisons among LED, LCD, and OLED displays. It also highlights historical breakthroughs leading to efficient blue LEDs and discusses their role in enabling white lighting, energy efficiency, and advanced visual technologies. Written with the aim of spreading scientific awareness, this work combines conceptual explanation with historical context to demonstrate how semiconductor innovation has transformed modern communication, lighting, and digital display infrastructure.
