Abstract

With the rapid development of information and communication technologies over the last two decades, libraries have lost their status as the primary source of knowledge within the university community. In this context, this project aims to develop an innovative prototype mobile and web application for the Barú Regional University Center (CRUBA) library, designed to optimize student attendance management, improve access to bibliographic resources, and address the limitations of using manual and scattered records. The proposal integrates a structured database that centralizes information, guarantees integrity and security, and facilitates the generation of statistical reports in real time. The methodology used was based on designing a relational model implemented in MySQL, managed through XAMPP, and linked to a progressive application that ensures operability in environments with limited connectivity. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence for personalized recommendations, natural language processing for automatic book classification and semantic search, chatbots for automated customer service, and optical character recognition for digitizing materials were also incorporated. The results show a significant improvement in operational efficiency, data organization, and accessibility, as well as expanding the possibilities for user interaction with the library. In conclusion, the system constitutes a replicable model that promotes inclusion, technological sustainability, and modernizing library services in university contexts.
