Abstract

v0.1.0 – Initial public release This is the first public release of lavaan_helper_functions, a set of utilities for implementing structural equation models in R using the lavaan package. The package provides helper functions to: label all structural regression coefficients (~) in a lavaan model using Excel-style labels (a, b, …, aa, …), build the corresponding directed regression graph, quantify direct, indirect, and total effects for selected outcomes via derived parameters (:=). What is computed For each selected outcome Y, the functions compute: Direct effects for each upstream X Indirect effects for each upstream X (summing products over all directed paths) Total effects (direct + indirect) Assumptions and scope The structural model is a directed acyclic graph (no reciprocal paths). Indirect effects are computed only along directed regression paths (~). Correlated residuals (~~) are not treated as causal pathways. This initial release reflects the current working implementation and should be considered experimental.
