THE SIX FLOWS: A Roadmap for Dissolving the Millennium Problems The Dynamic Operators That Replace Static Discontinuities
Abstract
Companion paper to The Discontinuity Fallacy: Second Edition (Vox, 2026). If the Discontinuity Fallacy identifies the common structural error across the Millennium Prize Problems, this paper names the cure. For each of the six unsolved problems, it identifies the specific continuous dynamic operator — the analog of Perelman's Ricci flow — that dissolves the assumed discontinuity. The six flows are: Invariant Accessibility Flow (P vs NP), reframing the problem from a wall between complexity classes to a continuous gradient of structural exposure. Viscous Redistribution Flow (Navier-Stokes), identifying viscosity as the medium through which turbulence is filtered, not the boundary where smoothness fails. Confinement Crystallization Transform (Yang-Mills), treating the mass gap as harmonic selection in a confining medium via renormalization group flow. Spectral Convergence Transform (Riemann Hypothesis), positioning the critical line as an inevitability of spectral structure via Hilbert-Pólya operator construction. Cohomological Crystallization Flow (Hodge Conjecture), dissolving the algebra-geometry boundary through variations of Hodge structure. Modularity Deepening Transform (BSD Conjecture), resolving the analytic-arithmetic disconnect through the Langlands program as a continuity engine. Each flow is presented with four components: the named operator, the invariant it preserves, the convergence target, and the dissolution mechanism. Each includes a testable prediction and an explicit breaking condition — what would constitute genuine falsification versus invalid criticism. These are not finished theorems. They are research programs. The template is Perelman: he did not solve the Poincaré Conjecture by answering the question. He dissolved the question by showing the Ricci flow eliminates the conditions under which it could be asked. Six questions remain. Six flows await the same treatment. Section 9 — "How to Break This" — explicitly invites challenge, defining what genuine breaking would look like for each flow and for the framework as a whole.
