A Phenomenological Model of Success with Time-Dependent Effort Quality
Abstract
We propose a phenomenological model of success in highly competitive societies, where suc- cess is determined by the balance between invested resources, individual ability, and socially imposed expectations. By introducing a time-dependent effort quality, we show that increasing effort does not necessarily lead to sustained success. We derive explicit conditions under which effort becomes counterproductive, define a mathematical notion of “black environments,” and demonstrate that in certain domains withdrawal is inevitable regardless of effort quality.
