THE SILESIAN PALEOBOTANICAL GARDEN IN THE CRUCIBLE OF TIME. The Undiscovered Heritage of Silesia
Abstract
The paper presents the concept and scientific significance of the Silesian Paleobotanical Garden as a unique site for preserving and promoting the geological and paleobotanical heritage of Silesia and the Opole Region. For centuries, these areas have been a "crucible of time," where diverse geological processes preserved rich fossil floras, offering insights into Earth’s past ecosystems. The author highlights the undiscovered potential of local paleobotanical findings, which often remain overlooked in broader historical and natural discourses. By integrating scientific research with educational outreach, the Silesian Paleobotanical Garden serves not only as a repository of fossil specimens but also as a bridge between the deep geological past and modern ecological awareness. The study emphasizes the need for systematic documentation and protection of these "silent witnesses" of evolution to ensure their survival for future generations.
