Phase Stability of Compact Objects: Neutron Stars and Black Holes as Spacetime Phase Transitions
Abstract
We propose a phase-based framework for compact objects in which neutron stars and black holes arise as distinct phases of a unified spacetime–phase system. The fundamental dynamical variable is a scalar phase field defined on a four-dimensional manifold, whose gradient tension governs the existence and stability of self-gravitating configurations. The model reproduces NICER mass–radius measurements and predicts black holes as phase transitions.
