Tichostephanus yuchijingde Ge & Tan 2026, sp. nov.
Abstract
†Tichostephanus yuchijingdeGe & Tan sp. nov. Figs 3, 4 Holotype. ♂; BFU, Myanmar Amber, Cretaceous. Part of Si-Xun Ge’s collection. This specimen was previously included in the phylogenetic analysis of Ge et al. (2025) as ‘ † Tichostephanus sp 2 ’. Etymology. The new species was named after a famous minister of the Tang Dynasty (another door god besides Shubao Qin in Chinese culture). Diagnosis. The new species can be distinguished from all other congeners by the following combination of character states: Neck with at least two distinct carinae, at slightly lower level than middle part of pronotum from lateral view. Pronotum with posterior part distinctly ascending at a higher level than the middle part from the lateral view. Pterostigma elongated but comparatively broad, less than 10 × as long as its maximum width. Vein 1 Cu straight; first subdiscal cell parallelogram shaped; vein 2 Cu-a oblique to vein A. Description. Male. Body length (except antenna) 6.4 mm; forewing length 2.1 mm. Head (Fig. 4 A): Antenna comparatively short and robust, with 12 flagellomeres; scape robust; pedicel short, about as long as wide. Head globular, compound eyes occupying much of anterior portion of lateral surface; vertex with two unpaired triangular tubercles developed anteriorly, followed by three pairs of coronal teeth; Gena slightly bulging; occipital carina distinctly developed; hypostomal carina large, without distinct rugosity but some punctures. Maxillary and labial palpi mostly invisible (basal part concealed). Mesosoma (Fig. 4 B): Pronotum robust with neck differentiated; neck at slightly lower level than middle part of pronotum; neck with at least two carinae, middle and posterior part of pronotum coriaceous; posterior part of pronotum distinctly ascending to higher level than middle part in lateral view. Wings (Fig. 4 C, D): Forewing with vein 1 Rs and 1 M continuous and straight; 2 - Rs, 2 Rs + M and 1 m-cu continuous vein (i. e. vein 2 Rs + M + 1 m-cu) with individual veins indistinguishable; pterostigma very elongate but comparatively wide, less than 10 × as long as maximum width; vein Rs complete and sclerotized, reaching distal part of costal margin; vein M does not reach the wing margin; subdiscal cell parallel-sided with vein 1 Cu parallel to vein A; vein A extended to 2 Cu-a; 2 Cu-b entirely absent. Hind wing clear, with only Sc + R present. Legs (Fig. 4 F): all legs elongate and slender, without distinct sculpture; hind coxa robust, spindle shaped without striae; hind femur slender without ventral dentition, about 7.2 × as long as its maximum width; hind tibia with its apical part distinctly flattened; inner side of the apical part without concavity basally; hind tibia about 1.5 × longer than hind femur, with maximum width of apical widened part up to 5.3 × as wide as minimum width of basal narrow part; hind tarsus with five tarsomeres; basitarsus 11.5 × as long as wide. Metasoma (Fig. 4 E): First tergum and sternum not fused laterally, tergite I slender but with apical part more or less swollen, about 1.2 × as long as tergite II and 0.2 × as long as remainder of metasoma; tergite I indistinctly narrower than tergite II. Genitalia only partly exserted, parameres long and broad, with its apex rounded. Female. Unknown.
