Abstract

As part of the Culture and Communication Research Centre (CULCORC) Seminar Series, the discussion seminar entitled “The Czech Citizen Parliament: Analysing Media Change, Participation, and Democracy” took place on Wednesday, 28 January, at 3:00 p.m. In this event, the Czech Citizen Parliament was examined as an illustrative case, through which the broader dynamics of contemporary democratic practices can be explored. The speakers discussed how shifting media environments shape possibilities for civic expression and how democratic cultures evolve when citizens, technologies, and institutions interact in new and innovative ways. Drawing on findings from the European MeDeMAP research project, the speakers reflected on the value and challenges of such participatory models in contemporary democracies (28 January 2026).
