Abstract

DAST App — Dancing Simply Together was developed within the research project DAST – Dancing Simply Together: Exploring connections between dance and complexity, coordinated by Adriana de Faria Gehres at the University of Pernambuco (Brazil), in partnership with researchers from the Federal University of Bahia and the University of Lisbon. The application supports the design, simulation, and analysis of generative dance processes based on collective improvisation, rule-based interaction, distributed attention, and emergent coordination. It is intended for use in artistic research, dance creation, education, and interdisciplinary studies that connect movement practices with complexity science, computational modeling, and embodied cognition. The current release (v1.0) provides core tools for experimenting with collective compositional strategies, documenting creative processes, and exploring patterns of togetherness in movement-based systems. The software is implemented in C# and classified as an application for artistic creation, communication, and educational use.
