Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the participation of Voronezh Region athletes in the USSR Olympic Games from 1952 to 1991. It examines criteria for regional affiliation (training location and sport affiliation), presents a list of Olympians with an emphasis on medalists, and conducts a historical and institutional analysis of the region's sports infrastructure, schools, and coaching traditions. The results demonstrate the Voronezh Region's significant contribution to the USSR's Olympic achievements, particularly in gymnastics, volleyball, track and field, and team sports.
