Generalized trust is rising in Southern Italy: signs of convergence with the Center-North in the period 2010–2023
Abstract
• Trentino–Alto Adige remains the most trusting area in Italy, despite a recent decline over the period. • Since 2015, social trust has been rising in many regions, suggesting civic resilience after economic crises. • Trust is increasing in Southern Italy, driven by Calabria, Basilicata, and Campania, reducing the North–South gap.
